The Schertler BLUESTiCK pickup is a patented active transducer that places the miniaturized equivalent of a studio-grade condenser microphone under the guitar saddle. It is an excellent acoustic guitar transducer that faithfully and transparently reproduce the sound of the individual guitar. The BLUESTiCK has an extended frequency response, with microscopic detail and up to 30dB more dynamic range than other transducers.
The heart of BLUESTiCK is a miniaturized electrostatic condenser microphone with a moving mass of just 0.0014 milligrams, just a fraction the weight of a piezo. Because it is so light, it can fully respond to the subtle harmonic vibrations that determine the sound of the guitar. It delivers a richer, more complex sound without the midrange suck-out that typically plagues piezo pickups.
The BLUESTiCK microphone element is housed in a hermetically sealed sound chamber just two-tenths of a millimeter thick. This unique acoustic resonator evenly collects sound from each string and delivers it to the transducer via a logarithmically-scaled high pressure zone at the exact center, and produces up to 10dB more volume before feedback.
System resonance remains out of the audible frequency spectrum, so the BLUESTiCK provides considerably more volume before feedback - without resorting to notch filters or equalizers. With BLUESTiCK it is possible to play naturally when amplified at stage volumes without holding back to avoid saturation, clipping or feedback. The BLUESTiCK provides far more feedback resistance than piezo pickups thanks to its extreme acoustic isolation and t is practical to play louder - and softer - than ever before.
Installation
The BLUESTiCK allows for a very simple, non-invasive installation pcess. Just one small hole needs to be drilled under the guitar’s saddle. BLUESTiCK requires no visual modification of the instrument - No unsightly control panels, volume knobs, and so on. The BLUESTiCK consists of a micro-Class A preamp module with over 1,000 hours playing time between lithium battery changes, the patented undersaddle condenser transducer, and an ingenious Sound Wheel that allows quick volume changes while maintaining full gain control.
There are eight BLUESTiCK models to fit any acoustic guitar, from classic to western, nylon to steel string, as well as 12-string and acoustic bass guitar.
BLUESTiCK Marine
This pick up consists of the same transducer as the standard BLUESTiCK but with the outboard Schertler PRE-AII instead of onboard electronics. The Schertler PRE-AII offers additional tone-shaping capabilities for the guitarist seeking maximum tonal flexibility. The Schertler PRE-AII has Gain, Bass, Treble, Resonance (180Hz attenuation) and Volume, concentric XLR/1/4” inputs, and two XLR outputs, one “dry” and one with EQ.
As with other Schertler electrostatic and electrodynamic transducers, the BLUESTiCK Marine works best through a full-range amplification system such as the Schertler UNICO acoustic combo amp or PUB 2/280 active loudspeaker.
