The PUTW Autoharp pickup mounts on the bass side of the soundboard directly under the manual key controls. There is a short wire that goes to a jack with a clip that mounts to the soundboard right next to the manual box. Zero modification is needed and the sound is rich and full.
This pickup is passive and a preamp should be used.
